Encryption and why it shouldn't be regulated

Encryption

If you don't know why encryption is necessary, let me ask you a question, "Do you use electronic commerce, have you bought anything on the Internet?"

If your answer to this is no, there are likely a number of reasons for this:

You say, "electronic commerce, what is that?"
You have heard a lot of things that make you feel that your credit card numbers are less than secure.
You just don't trust the vendors to not be computer hackers?

If you came here looking for more Microsoft-bashing, you won't find it (anymore). Bashing Microsoft is becoming too passe. I haven't changed my views about their business practices, or their software, but other people have more time to write about the subject than I.

If you came here looking for enlightening political discussion, this isn't the right place, either.

I am not interested in flame mail, but if you have something to say to me, send me email at rnspayne@the-paynes.com. Flames and anything else that is objectionable will be treated with the same disrespect that you show me and my family by sending it, I am not the only person who reads mail which comes to this address.
